My Trips - 2

Picture of the Week

I visited Italy in January 1996. While I was there, I spent a couple of days in Venice. The city is composed basically of canals and on the streets one will see nothing but people, I mean no cars at all! Ambulance and fire brigade move in and out on boats that do not exceed 10Km/h! Back in those days, there were just around 200 gondolas, according to the gondola driver who showed me around. They are ALL painted black to mourn the Venetians who resisted the attacks of Napoleonic troops and died protecting their territory. The white bridge on the background was designed by Michelangelo.

The Art of War - Book of the Month

The Art of War
Sun Tzu

The Art of War is an ancient Chinese military treatise that is attributed to Sun Tzu (also referred to as "Sunzi" and "Sun Wu"), a high ranking military general and strategist of the Kingdom of Wu who was active in the late-sixth century BC, during the late Spring and Autumn period. (Some scholars believe that the Art of War was not completed until the subsequent Warring States period.[1]) Composed of 13 chapters, each of which is devoted to one aspect of warfare, it is said to be the definitive work on military strategies and tactics of its time, and is still read for its military insights.
